1775-1900 Guide -
$19.95
with
illustration sheet Discounted set price $24.95 for both guides. The Guide places your quilt in a quilt styles timeline. Use the guide in two ways:
Contains a description of ninety styles, printed on a durable non-tearable paper that will last for years. Quilt styles are categorized in Quilts in America 1775-1830, Quilts made in America 1830-1870, and Quilts made in America 1870-1900. You can add your notes on the chart, due to the matte finish. It folds out like a map, and when folded, is easy to put into your purse or glove compartment. Approximately 9 x 6 inches. |

|
There is a Key to Abbreviations on the chart. Many of them are abbreviations you use yourself, like blk. for block and prtd. for printed. The Guides are condensed but written with the uninitiated in mind so if you are new to quilt dating you will find them useful too. The most common styles found in an era are listed, not every single style found in an era. And a style is listed when it is most commonly made, not all the years it was made. Some chart descriptions include the quilting pattern or the fabrics or the colors of the fabrics, when these are important to the distinguishing the style’s place in the timeline. |

Guidelines & Disclaimer Only quilts made in America are charted, except 1775-1830 includes completed quilts brought with families or shipped to America. The focus is on quilts you are more likely to see in the marketplace or on exhibit today. The time-frames specified for a style represent when the style was most frequently made. It is not intended to cover when all quilts of a style were made, nor does it include all of the quilt styles and variations made between 1775-1900. Due to condensed format, use guides as a starting place to gauge the era a quilt was made; include other factors to determine the most reliable date of a particular quilt. This Guide is intended to provide accurate information, but no guarantee is implied; corrections or new information welcomed for future editions at antiqueguides@jetlink.net.
