1900-1950 Guide - $9.95
with illustration sheet

Discounted set price $24.95 for both guides.

The Guide places your quilt in a quilt styles timeline. Use the guide in two ways:
  1. When you read across a row you see how the style changed over time or ceased to be commonly made

  2. Reading down a time period’s column you will find a description of the most common quilts styles in that era.

Green chart: 20th century
1900-1920 (44 styles)
1920-1950 (40 styles)

For a quick assessment at a glance, the 20th Century Chart also includes a check list of 12 distinguishing features of quilts made in the 20th Century for those who may not know which Guide to use. Once these features are learned, it won’t be difficult to tell at a glance the most likely century the quilt is from.

Over thirty style descriptions, on a laminated, single fold two-sided chart - 7.0” x 8.5.”  Small size will fit in your purse or glove compartment.

There is a Key to Abbreviations on the chart. Many of them are abbreviations you use yourself, like blk. for block and prtd. for printed.

The Guides are condensed but written with the uninitiated in mind so if you are new to quilt dating you will find them useful too. The most common styles found in an era are listed, not every single style found in an era. And a style is listed when it is most commonly made, not all the years it was made.

Copyright © Kimberly Wulfert Publishing 2006.  Due to the condensed format, the time-frame specified for a style represents when it was most frequently made and is not intended to cover when all quilts of a style were made, nor does it include all quilt styles and variations made from 1900-1950. Use this guide as a starting place to gauge the era and to include other factors to determine the most reliable date of a particular quilt.
